A new chapter
As of yesterday at about 3:30 pm I was officially made the 2nd councilor in the Relief Society Presidency! We got a call from the bishop Tuesday evening asking if he could come by and visit with both Mike and I which he did and I kind of thought it was going to be for me because I've been a free agent for 5 months now but we also knew Mike's day in the Elders Quorum Presidency were coming to an end too. I have also thought for a while that they would probably call me to be on the "enrichment" board since I am asked to help with it all the time anyway little did I know I would be asked to be over the whole thing!
Bishop had asked Mike over the phone if he could support me in this calling so he at least got a few minutes heads up but I was pretty shocked to be asked to me in the presidency. They called a whole new one and my friend Claire is the president, and she will do an amazing job! On Sunday in Relief Society the old presidency was given the opportunity to say their goodbye's and the new the opportunity to introduce ourselves, it was then and there that confirmed in my mind that Claire really was the right one for the job! She just sounded like a leader and as far as I could tell the rest of the room thought so too.
I on the other hand just rambled on and said silly stuff like "because I can make bread and sew a straight line I guess somebody thinks I have something to teach all of you", I feel like I have this misguided reputation of knowing how to do everything so I just hope I don't let anybody down. I am excited though for the opportunity to serve and get to know the sisters in our ward. It has been several years since I have even been in Relief Society since my previous callings had me in primary and young womens so I guess I am ready for the challenges this opportunity brings. Wish me luck, keep me in your prayers and I'll get to work!

I think you are all going to do fabulous! I may have to have Phil stay home with the kids so I can actually get back to RS one of these days!
Loooking forward to working with you- and YES you will be great!!
I've had that calling as both first and second counselor and would pick it again in a heartbeat if that was how it worked :)...I heart RS and the strength of sisters...have fun, and don't stress!
Sewing a straight line is harder then it looks. I only say this because I might have seen a blanket that needed some help. I am not naming any names or anything out of fear of death.
I know you'll be great. and I am pretty sure you either know everything or you can figure anything out. Your relief society can definitely learn a lot from you!
What a great calling for you! You'll do great! how fun to get to create along with all the sisters in the ward.
